Leipziger Jazztage – Wolfgang Haffner

Jazz wie ich ihn mir vorstelle – bot Wolfgang Haffner mit seiner Band gestern Abend in der Moritzbastei anlässlich der Leipziger Jazztage. Meist melodisch schwingend, durchaus aber auch einmal gewaltig oder sogar quietschend.
Mit Hubert Nuss am Konzertflügel und Christian Diener am Kontrabass spielte das Trio auf sensationell hohem Niveau. Mich erreichte die ansteckende Laune der Drei sofort. Lange Soli offenbarten die Kunstfertigkeiten der Akteure im Besonderen. Hubert Nuss am Flügel musste sich dabei nicht im geringsten vor Wolfgang Haffner am Schlagzeug verstecken – vor allem nicht vor Quietschehämmerchen.
Die Quietschehämmerchen waren sicher nicht nur für mich ein Highlight. Wolfgang Haffner holte plötzlich ganz unvermittelt zwei quietschbunte Gummihämmerchen heraus, die er in einem langen Soli effektvoll auf seinem Schlagzeug tanzen ließ. Der Sound war überraschend gut. Ein Erlebnis, welches nur live zu erfahren ist.
